Why UHMWPE pipe is more safer and reliable than steel pipe?--Houde Rubber & Plastic

There are two main properties make UHMWPE Pipe so durable-extremely high wear resistance and extremely high impact resistance.

The most striking characteristic of UHMWPE pipe is ite high wear resistance, which is very precious in many engineering applications. The wear resistance is the best among all the plastics, even much better than many metal materials(for example, carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, etc). UHMWPE pipe's wear resistance is 4-7 times of steel, 10 times of PP and 2.3 times of PE. It is more effective in delivering small particle slurry such as coal ash.

The resistance to environmental stress, crack and scratch rank highest among all engineering plastics. The resistance to impact strength is connected with the molecular weight. UHMWPE pipe is 2 times of PC, 5 tims of ABS, over 10 times of PE100 at normal temperature. It is 16 times of PE100 at minus 30°C. Its crack resistance is about 2 times of PE100. The lower the environment temperature is, the stronger the impact resistance is. The resistance to impact is so high that it is difficult to crack by noraml test. Moreover, UHMWPE pipe can also keep excellent impactt resistance under liquid nitrogen temperature(minus 196°C), which is the unique properity in comparision with other plastics. Because of its extraordinary flexibility, UHMWPE pipe can resist considerable external impact and deformation without lining steel pipes. And UHMWPE pipe is safer and more reliable than steel pipe.
